South West Victoria

How do farmers & producers get food to eaters?

Selling food directly from farm to fork (or perhaps with a short detour via a food hub!) has many benefits. But it also presents a few challenges. How do you move food, without it costing too much – either in time or money?

Open Road is a collaborative logistics service that helps producers save time and money in moving food from A to B. Brought to you by Open Food Network and an alliance of nonprofits, we’ve created an affordable courier and food brokerage scheme with depots across Victoria.

Collaborative logistics for regional Victoria

We’ve begun by creating distribution depots around Hume, Gippsland, Mornington Peninsula and Greater Melbourne for local produce, and we’re launching in South West Victoria soon. Among the depots will be farms, community run grocers and independent retailers.

Open Road couriers are knowledgeable in the handling of produce and understand the nature of its fragility. Open Road vehicles are clean, well maintained, reliable and conform to cold chain food safety regulations. Our customer service team are farmers, makers and fresh food retailers who can deliver the personal touch your business requires – promptly!

Delivery extends into regional centres in South West Victoria, Melbourne, and further afield into existing Open Road regions.
