Sustainable Table funds new development for the Open Food Network software platform.

In late 2021, Sustainable Table put out a call for regenerative and sustainable Australian food businesses to tell them ant projects they were thinking of undertaking that required funding. We are thrilled to announce that the Open Food Network was one of the first 10 projects accepted into the Sustainable Table fund.

The Open Food Network has just celebrated it’s 10 year anniversary, and the open source software platform that we have developed is now used by more than 2500 producers around the world. In fact, more than $12M of sales occurred on the platform in the past year alone.

We will receive more than $100,000 in funding from Sustainable Table over the course of the project, which is a gamechanger for a not-for-profit, grass roots and community funded organisation like ours. This will be used in three ways:

1.) We will undertake a pulse check of farmers, producers and food hubs to help us understand their needs and expectations when it comes to online e-commerce platforms

2.) We will develop a new API end point that will allow us to rapidly expand the functionality of the Open Food Network online software platform.

3.) We will develop new functionality to address the needs identified by participating farmers, producers and food hubs from our pulse check.

We can’t wait to get started on this project. If you would like to be part of the Pulse Check please contact us at hello@openfoodnetwork.org.au.
