Case Study

The Community Grocer

The Community Grocer was established as a pop-up market in Melbourne with the objective of improving access for people living in public and social housing to fresh, affordable food. Each week the market sources fresh produce from the wholesale markets and sets up a market in a temporary location within two housing estates. The Community Grocer encourages locals to use the market not only as a place to get their fruit and veg, but also as a social opportunity and a chance to learn skills through volunteering.
