Case Study
2 & 5
2&5 is a social enterprise in the Corio, Victoria which was setup to tackle food insecurity in the socio-economically disadvantaged local community. 2&5 improve the availability of fresh fruits and vegetables in the area through their retail shop and cafe in Norlane, which also provides a welcoming space for the community to socialise. The social enterprise also generates revenue through corporate fruit boxes which are delivered to workplaces around Geelong and by selling preserves and chutneys made in the cafe through market stalls.
The organisation also operates a market garden close by to Geelong. This farming initiative uses sustainable growing practices to grow produce for the 2&5 retail shop and market stalls. The 2&5 market garden also hosts interns who are sponsored to study Horticulture at the local TAFE as well as Work for the Dole participants.
